North Laine

Logo design and web development work done for the North Laine Traders’ Association in the heart of Brighton, UK.

Walking around and taking pictures of the streets of North Laine allowed me to get a good feel for the area. Its uniqueness became evident right away. It was therefore easy to put together some ideas to design a logo.

Although I haven’t designed the final logo, I did contribute with a few ideas. Most of my work had elements I thought were the highlights of what I’ve seen:

  • The Royal Pavilion palace
  • Rooftops with chimneys
  • Brighton’s stick of rock

The website was built by me. It targets local and foreign visitors, as well as new traders and businesses. The most important feature is the business listing, where everyone can navigate through different industries and check details about the shops in the area.

It was built in Expression Engine – a content management system based on the PHP framework CodeIgniter. This allowed the client to easily edit the content of the website.
